The World Series games this year opened in the earliest day unlike ever before, on Thursday, the 29th of March and it will be held in North America. Baseball enthusiasts from all over the world are quite anxious as to which team is going to take this year’s win.
September is here and the games are really heated up and due to the high amount of tension in the air, it’s really not that easy for us to predict the winning team since the competition is quite stiff, don’t you agree?
Well, today, we’ll be taking a look at the results that also have predicted winners for each given division, the league pennant and the Wild Card Berth and of course, the world series.
The venue, location, date & time
- 1 The venue, location, date & time
- 2 American league east winners: the Red Sox
- 3 American League Central: Cleveland Indians
- 4 American League West: Astros
- 5 The AL wild-card winners.
- 6 NL East winner: the Philadelphia Phillies
- 7 NL Central winner Milwaukee brewers
- 8 NL West winner: The Dodgers
- 9 The national league Wild Card 1 and 2
The team with the best overall record in the National League and the American League will have the Home advantage with most of the games being held at the home stadium.
The American League East finals for instance will be held on the Fenway Park and this will be a home game for the Boston Red Sox on the 30th of October commencing at 12:00 AM. The pricing for the tickets in these games is approximated to be about $1600 which is not as expensive as how much they went for in the world series 2017 games.
American league east winners: the Red Sox
For this title, I really think that that the Boston Red Sox will emerge as per their history of holding the title straight for the past two years and it definitely won’t come as a surprise if they do take this year’s win as well.
Over the past few months, there has been a lot of rant of them losing to their arch nemesis, the New York Yankees but from my own point of view, they won’t back down or rather give in and I’m pretty sure that they’ll emerge as the winning team in the AL East
American League Central: Cleveland Indians
Now, most people might have backed down from supporting this team or lost faith in them winning the AL Central due to the fact that they don’t have a really good percentage of wins.
But just hold your horses…
The only team that could take them down was the Minnesota Twins who then had a slow start and did trade off some of their best players such as Escobar and Dozier way ahead of the deadline.
Yet another thing that could boost your hopes is that Cleveland is stronger than it has ever been before as they have traded Adam Cimber and Brad Hand. In addition to this, the solid upgrade on the outfield die to the Leonys Martin swap is a really huge advantage. This way, the kinda avoided the possibility of completely.
American League West: Astros
I’d vouch for this team to with the American league west title due to the reason. The reason for this is quite simple; the Astros have got their players Jose and Carlos who had a knee and back injury respectively back and they’ve held up quite well even while their players were away.
In addition to this, there was the Maldonado trade which gave them a really good depth. This is definitely enough reason to give us the utmost confidence in their talent.
The AL wild-card winners.
For the AL wildcard No.1 I’d vouch for the New York Yankees and here is the reason why:
Even though they don’t have that much of a chance to topple Red Sox in the AL East race, the fall back in the No.1 card spot. Due to the fact that they hold a comfortable lead for the No. 1 wild card, their starting pitch might pull them back but they do have a really good offense and an overpowering bullpen to ensure a high floor.
For the wild card No.2, I’d vouch for the Oakland Athletics since they have a really good bullpen and their rivals, the Mariners don’t hold that much of a chance to beat them as they played most of their games on the road.
NL East winner: the Philadelphia Phillies
As compared to their rivals such as the Atlanta Braves and Washington Nationals, they have got the best team. They also hold the division’s most reliable starting rotation all season with both their bullpen and offense showing the possibility of finishing strong.
With the offensive upgrades and the return of Cabrera from the hamstring injury, they sure show a high possibility of taking the wins.
NL Central winner Milwaukee brewers
They have been near the top division all season and show a great possibility of winning as well. With the return of Darvish, Morrow, and Bryant from injuries, the fates are undoubtedly on their side.
On the other hand, their rivals the Pirates are showing signs of closing in on them quite fast. It is however quite unlikely they are going to lose to them if they keep up their strong teamwork and coordination.
NL West winner: The Dodgers
So far, it has been a race between the Dodgers, the Diamondbacks, and the Colorado Rockies. Whereas the Rockies have seemed to stagnate towards the end and stand at risk of regressing to the sub-500 club they were at before June, the Diamondbacks have had a really active deadline as they have acquired some major players.
Even with the impending competition, the Dodgers seem to put up a really good fight which can be credited to a trade for Machado and with Dozier and John Axford, they truly have a better deadline than most teams.
The national league Wild Card 1 and 2
For the No. 1 wild card, I really think that the Chicago Cubs have their work cut for them in holding on to the lead of NL central. Even upon treading water for the rest of the season, they can still nap the national league’s top card spot. Even without Bryant being at peak performance, they still lead the NL in OPS and runs scored which explains a lot that they have in their lineup.
The second spot, the No.2 Wild Card might go to the Diamondbacks since they tend to outshine other competitors such as the Pirates, Braves, the Rockies, the Nationals etc. and chances are that they could stay this way. With the talent of some of the best players such as Escobar and Souza Jr., the odds seem to be on their side.
